Editorial Policy
Every Bible coloring page on Printable Bible Coloring is reviewed against four criteria before publication. This page documents our standards in full.
Our editorial standards
- Biblical accuracy. Every illustration must depict the referenced Bible passage faithfully. When a story has multiple accounts (e.g. nativity in Matthew vs Luke), we cite the source verse explicitly.
- Age appropriateness. Pages targeting preschool audiences avoid imagery of violence (e.g. crucifixion, martyrdom). Adult pages may include more detail.
- Educational value. Each page is linked to (a) a specific Bible verse, (b) a one-sentence teaching point, and (c) age-tagged classroom-discussion questions.
- Reverence. Religious figures (Jesus, Mary, the saints) are drawn with the dignity owed to them. We avoid caricature, glib humor, or commercial-feeling imagery.
Who reviews our content
All pages are reviewed by Sarah Mitchell, our Christian Education Editor, before publication. Sarah has 10 years of Sunday school directorship and homeschool curriculum writing experience.
When a page covers contested theological territory (e.g. the role of saints, Catholic vs Protestant interpretations of communion), we either present the difference in plain language or focus on the shared biblical narrative without taking a doctrinal position.
Sources we cite
Bible translations: NIV (default), with ESV, KJV, and NLT versions available for popular verses. For non-English locales, we use the locally-standard translation: Reina-Valera 1960 (Spanish), Almeida Revista e Atualizada (Portuguese-Brazil), Biblia Tysiąclecia (Polish), Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling (Dutch), Bible Louis Segond (French), Luther Bibel 2017 (German).
Saints biographies: Vatican.va official biographies + Catholic Encyclopedia + the Liturgical year calendars for each saint's feast day.
Theological references: Catechism of the Catholic Church (Catholic content), Westminster Confession (Reformed content), and where relevant we cite the original Greek or Hebrew word for clarification.
Correction policy
If you spot an error — biblical, factual, or typographical — please email [email protected] with the page URL and the correction. We aim to publish corrections within 5 business days. Corrected pages note the update date in the byline.
Update cadence
We publish new Bible coloring pages weekly. Existing pages are reviewed every 18 months for accuracy and relevance. The "Last updated" date on each leaf page reflects the most recent review (not just edits).
No paid placement
Printable Bible Coloring does not accept paid placement for coloring pages, guest posts, or links. Every page exists to serve our Sunday school and homeschool audience.
