This is the largest free collection of Bible coloring pages organized by Bible book and story arc on the open web. We're working toward complete coverage of every named Bible story across the 66 books — currently we publish weekly and add 10 to 20 new pages every week.

How Sunday school teachers actually use these pages

After seven years directing a small-church children's ministry and four more years writing homeschool curriculum, I built this site around the workflow that actually exists in a Sunday school classroom on a Sunday morning:

1. Friday afternoon: pick the story. Match your church's curriculum calendar to a Bible passage. If your church follows the Revised Common Lectionary, the suggested reading for that Sunday is your starting point. Otherwise, pick whatever passage your director assigned.
2. Friday afternoon: download the bundle. Click the "Download Full PDF" button on the relevant story page. You'll get a 6-scene PDF — the first scene introduces the story, the middle scenes carry the narrative arc, the last scene is the resolution. Print one copy per child plus a few extras (there's always a sibling who shows up).
3. Sunday morning: lay out the bundle on the table. As kids arrive, hand them the first scene and a small box of crayons. They color while you tell the story.
4. Sunday morning: walk through each scene in narrative order. Take 5–8 minutes per scene. Read the corresponding Bible verse aloud. Ask the discussion question printed on the page. Move to the next scene.
5. Sunday morning: send the bundle home. Each child takes home all six pages in a folder. Include the one-line "ask your child about this" note for parents (we provide template language on each story page).

This routine fits a typical 45-minute Sunday school class with about 5 minutes of welcome and 5 minutes of closing prayer. The 6-scene format is deliberate — long enough to cover the story's arc, short enough that no child runs out of paper before the bell.

How homeschool parents use these pages

For homeschool families, the pattern is different. You're not bounded by a 45-minute class period; you're trying to integrate Bible content into a week-long unit study. The typical homeschool workflow:

• Monday: introduce the story. Read the full Bible passage aloud (use the age-appropriate excerpt for younger kids). Color the first 1–2 scenes from the page bundle.
• Tuesday–Thursday: spaced practice. Color one additional scene each day. Each day, do a 5-minute review: ask one comprehension question, one application question.
• Friday: bring it together. Color the final scene. Have the child retell the full story in their own words, page by page. Display all six pages on the wall as a visual timeline.

For unit-study homeschools, pair the Bible coloring page with the corresponding Bible verse memory card (we publish those at bible-verse-coloring-pages) and any age-appropriate Bible read-aloud.

A note on Bible translations

We use the New International Version (NIV) as our default translation because it's the most widely used in American Sunday school curricula and homeschool materials. For every popular verse cited on the site, we also display:

• NIV — New International Version (Biblica, 2011) — our default
• ESV — English Standard Version (Crossway, 2016) — favored by Reformed and many evangelical churches
• KJV — King James Version (1611, public domain) — the historical English Bible
• NLT — New Living Translation (Tyndale, 2015) — accessible language, good for early readers

For our Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, French, and German locales, we cite the locally-standard translation: Reina-Valera 1960, Almeida Revista e Atualizada, Biblia Tysiąclecia, Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling, Louis Segond, and the Luther Bibel 2017 respectively.

Editorial review — what passes, what doesn't

Every Bible coloring page on this site is reviewed by Sarah Mitchell, Christian Education Editor, against our editorial policy. The four criteria, in plain English:

1. Does the illustration match the Bible passage? If a page depicts Noah's Ark, we cross-reference against Genesis 6–9. If the page shows three wise men at the Nativity (the iconic version), we add a footnote noting that Matthew 2 doesn't specify a number — "three" is the iconographic tradition based on the three gifts.
2. Is it age-appropriate? Pages for preschoolers (3–5) avoid violence (no Crucifixion imagery, no martyrdom scenes). Pages for kids (5–10) carry more narrative detail but still avoid graphic content. Adult pages include intricate mandala patterns suitable for Bible journaling.
3. Does it support a teaching point? Each page links to a specific Bible verse and a one-sentence teaching point. If a page has beautiful art but no clear teaching application, it doesn't go on the site.
4. Is it reverent? No caricature of Jesus, Mary, or saints. No commercial cartoon style. Religious figures are drawn with the dignity owed them.

If a page fails any criterion, it's regenerated with adjusted prompts or rejected entirely. Read our editorial policy for sources cited, our correction process, and review cadence.

What format you'll download

Every leaf page on this site offers three download formats:

• Full bundle PDF (A4) — 6 scenes combined into a single print-ready PDF at 300 DPI, A4 size (210 × 297 mm). This is the default and the format you want for Sunday school printing.
• Full bundle PDF (US Letter) — same content in US Letter size (8.5 × 11 in) for US schools that use Letter paper. Secondary button next to the A4 download.
• Individual PNG — each scene as a standalone PNG image, useful for digital coloring on a tablet or for embedding in a custom worksheet.

The PDFs are deliberately small (typically 2.5–3.5 MB for a 6-page bundle) because they're black-and-white line art — no color profiles, no embedded fonts, no compressed JPEGs. What's free, what's the catch

There's no catch. Every Bible coloring page on this site is released under our free license, which expressly permits:

• Personal use at home
• Classroom + homeschool use — print copies for every student in your class
• Sunday school + VBS — print bundles for any size class, recurring weekly
• Church bulletins + church newsletters — include our pages in your parish publications

What the license does not permit:

• Commercial resale — you can't compile our pages into a book and sell it on Amazon, Etsy, or anywhere else
• Re-licensing — you can't republish under a different license, or claim authorship
